Carla Munch chosen as Team Leader for FISU World University Golf Championship

Head coach of the women's golf program, Carla Munch is currently overseas working as a Coach/Team Leader for Team Canada at the 2022 FISU World University Championship held in Turin, Italy from July 20-23. This is the fourth time Munch has coached Team Canada at the FISU Games. She did so in 2008 (South Africa), 2010 (Spain), 2011 (China), and 2014 (Switzerland). 

Munch has been the coach of the women's golf program since 2004 and has created a competitive program leading her team to back to back OUA gold medals in 2010 and 2011, seven OUA silver medals (2008, 2012, 2013-2016, and 2019), and four OUA bronze medals (2005, 2007, 2009, and 2017) as well as a bronze medal at the College/University Golf Championship in 2011. In 2019 Munch was named the PGA of Canada's top golf coach and was Waterloo's Coach of the Year in 2007 as well as the OUA Coach of the Year in 2007 and 2008.

Six Canadian University golfers will don the Maple Leaf, representing Canada at the 2022 FISU World University Championships held in Turin, Italy from July 20 - 23.
 
On the men's side, Charles-David Trépanier of the University of Laval will join Jacob Armstrong and Jackson Jacob of the University of Fraser Valley.
 
On the women's side, University of British Columbia, Okanagan golfer Emily Cornwall will unite with Élizabeth Blier and Sasha Laoun of the University of Montreal to round out the Canadian contingent.
 
UFV's Jacob Armstrong, who will be heading into his third year of eligibility recently finished second at the Canadian University/College Championship in Bromont, Quebec. The Winnipeg native is also a former Manitoba Junior Champion.
 
Jackson Jacob, the second of two Fraser Valley Cascades on the Canadian squad finished eighth on the leaderboard at the Canadian University/College Championship. Hailing from Langley, British Columbia. the Marketing major also took home first place in the University of Alberta Invitational at Northern Bear Golf Club in Edmonton, Alberta.
 
Rounding out the men's side is Charles-David Trépanier of the Laval Rouge et Or. The fourth-year civil engineering student is a two-time RSEQ All-Star and recently finished tenth overall at the Canadian University/College Championship.
 
UBCO Heat's Emily Cornwall is a former Alberta Junior Champion and at 19 years-old, is the youngest athlete representing team Canada at the World Championship. In her first year, Cornwall has already made a splash by finishing T-11 at the Canadian University/College Championship.
 
Élizabeth Blier of the Montréal Carabins finished tied for ninth place at the Canadian University/College Championship and is a former Quebec Provincial Junior Champion. The third-year Physiotherapy student is a second-team RSEQ All-Star and took home honours as Carabins Rookie of the Year in 2019.
 
Sasha Laoun, also of the Carabins, finished fifth at the Canadian University/College Championship. The Montréal native is a two-time RSEQ second-team All-Star and recently represented team Canada at the 2022 Deaflympics in Caxias do Sul, Brazil, finishing fifth-overall.
