Volleyball on Campus
If you are looking for opportunities to play volleyball on campus, you should also check out Intramurals through Campus Recreation, or the Serve Club.
Prerequisites:
Complete both of the required documents submit HERE at least 3 days before the tryout.
- Put your name & sport in the subject area of the email
- The med form only needs to be completed up to (but not including) the portion that requires a Dr signature (fill pages 1-2, sign page 3)
Optional:
If you have a highlight reel or video footage from a recent competition, please send to coach Richard Eddy reddy@uwaterloo.ca in advance of the tryouts
Other tryout information:
- Anyone with recent medical issues, concussions, or existing injuries should not participate in tryouts.
- Completing the prerequisites will allow you to tryout for the team but does not guarantee you a spot on the team.
- Interested students should have a minimum of 18U club/rep team volleyball experience or higher, preferably a background in high-performance sport such as playing volleyball at the provincial or national level.
- The UWaterloo coaching staff will evaluate attendees on experience level, skill, physicality, long-term potential and other factors at the coaches discretion.
- A physical by a doctor is required for anyone that is selected to the official team roster.
Student-Athlete Information
- Student-athletes must maintain ‘full-time’ academic status to be eligible to compete.
- Student-athletes must abide by the student-athlete behavioural guidelines and code of conduct as assigned by the team, the Department of Athletics and Recreation, and the OUA
- Playing on the women’s volleyball varsity team will require a 4-5 year commitment. Student-athletes can expect to be involved in sport for at least 15 hours per week, year round. This includes practices, workouts and other obligations.
- Occasional bus and/or air travel to competitions is required. Efforts are taken to avoid missing school, but it is possible for conflicts to exist between scheduled classes and regular season competition/travel.
