Tryout Information

Forms 

In order to tryout for a varsity team, all potential student athletes must complete the attached waiver form and medical form.  For the medical form please fill pages 1-2 and sign page 3. Please submit this information to Athletic Therapy bfa03160.uofwaterloo.mail.onmicrosoft.com@ca.teams.ms

After sending the required forms to Athletic Therapy, please contact the coach of your chosen sport so they are aware of your intention to tryout.

Tryout Dates 

  • Tryouts this season will take place on September 7th from 7-9 am at CIF. Please contact coaches for more information.

  • The Warriors Badminton program will be holding tryouts on Monday, September 11 from 5:00pm-9:00pm at the CIF Gyms 1 and 2.

    Tryout Registration Deadline*: September 10, 12 pm
                    *Those who aren't registered will not be able to tryout

  • The Warriors Men's Golf program will be holding tryouts on Thursday September 7th, 2023. Players are to contact the Head Coach, Tara Savoie (t2savoie@uwaterloo.ca) to confirm their attendance and receive their tee time.

    Tee Times: Beginning at 2:20pm

    Location: Rebel Creek Golf Club 

    Cost: $40 plus HST for non-members 

  • Tryouts this season will take place from August 26th to Sept 8th. Please contact coaches for more information.

  • Tryouts this season will take place on September 10th from 9-10am in the PAC Main Gym 

    Note: In order to tryout for the men’s volleyball team, all potential student athletes must complete the attached waiver form and medical form.  For the medical form please fill pages 1-2 and sign page 3.

  • Tryouts this season will take place on September 8th from 7 am at PAC Main Gym. Please contact cnhyde@uwaterloo.ca  for more information & to register for the tryout.

  • Tryouts this season will take place on September 11th from 5 pm - 7 pm on Warrior Field. Please contact the head coach for more information & to register. 

  • Tryouts this season will take place on September 9th from 1-2pm (or earlier)

    Notes: 

    Volleyball on Campus

    If you are looking for opportunities to play volleyball on campus, you should also check out Intramurals through Campus Recreation, or the Serve Club.

    Prerequisites:    

    Complete both of the required documents submit HERE at least 3 days before the tryout. 

    • Put your name & sport in the subject area of the email 
    • The med form only needs to be completed up to (but not including) the portion that requires a Dr signature (fill pages 1-2, sign page 3)

     

    Optional:            

    If you have a highlight reel or video footage from a recent competition, please send to coach Richard Eddy reddy@uwaterloo.ca in advance of the tryouts

    Other tryout information: 

    • Anyone with recent medical issues, concussions, or existing injuries should not participate in tryouts.
    • Completing the prerequisites will allow you to tryout for the team but does not guarantee you a spot on the team.
    • Interested students should have a minimum of 18U club/rep team volleyball experience or higher, preferably a background in high-performance sport such as playing volleyball at the provincial or national level.
    • The UWaterloo coaching staff will evaluate attendees on experience level, skill, physicality, long-term potential and other factors at the coaches discretion.
    • A physical by a doctor is required for anyone that is selected to the official team roster.

     

    Student-Athlete Information

    • Student-athletes must maintain ‘full-time’ academic status to be eligible to compete.
    • Student-athletes must abide by the student-athlete behavioural guidelines and code of conduct as assigned by the team, the Department of Athletics and Recreation, and the OUA
    • Playing on the women’s volleyball varsity team will require a 4-5 year commitment. Student-athletes can expect to be involved in sport for at least 15 hours per week, year round. This includes practices, workouts and other obligations.
    • Occasional bus and/or air travel to competitions is required.  Efforts are taken to avoid missing school, but it is possible for conflicts to exist between scheduled classes and regular season competition/travel.
  • Open tryouts for Men’s and Women’s curling are coming up this fall!

    Tryouts will be a single evening at the Westmount Golf & Country Club on October 17th. We’ll be on the ice from 6:00pm – 7:30pm for drills and skill assessment, take a short break, then conclude with game play from about 8:00pm – 10:00pm. Curlers should bring their own snacks as required for refuelling.

    All curlers will also have a 15-minute interview over Zoom with the coaching team to get to know each other and discuss the commitment required for the season. Please contact Head Coach Bridget Arnold curlingcoachbridget@gmail.com to book your interview.
