The Warriors women's golf team captured the 2019 OUA silver medal following the two-day Championship event held at Angus Glen Golf Club in Markham on Monday and Tuesday.
The Warriors shot a two-day team total of 480 (+48), just five back of the gold medal winning Windsor Lancers, who dethroned the 7-time defending champs Toronto. The Varsity Blues ended up in third spot, 22 strokes back of Waterloo.
Leading the way for the Warriors was newcomer
Olivia Richards (Kitchener) who fired a 76 in her second round, to give her a two-day total of 156 (12-over). That was just two shots back of the individual gold medallist, Alyssa Getty of Windsor.
Laura Wesselius (Petitcodiac/) finished her championship with a total of 161 (17-over) while
Elanna Lachaine-DeMarchi (Cambridge/) was just two back of Wesslius with her score of 163. For their outstanding play both were named OUA second-team all-stars while Richards earned a spot on the first-team.
Claire Konning (Moncton/) rounded out Waterloo's scoring with a 177 to finish in a tie for 19th.
