Tara Savoie named head coach of men's golf

Tara SavoieThe Department of Athletics and Recreation is pleased to announce the next coach of the men's golf program as Tara Savoie. Savoie makes the move from the Brock University where she has been the head coach of the Badgers golf teams since 2014. 

Savoie is a PGA of Canada golf professional who has been involved in all levels of coaching, managing and supervision including vast experience in coaching young adults and student-athletes in an elite environment. Currently, Savoie is employed at the Cambridge Golf Club as the lead instructor for junior and pre-junior golf clinics and camps. "We are very excited to have Tara join our storied men's golf program," said Interuniversity Sport Manager, Chris Gilbert. "Tara brings a wealth of experience coaching young and talented individuals and we are excited she will be able continue to lead our men's program down the path of success." Savoie has also been the Associate Golf Professional for the Westmount Golf and Country Club for two years and another five years at the Thornhill Golf and Country Club.

"I am honoured and excited to be joining the Warriors golf program and thank Chris Gilbert, Brian Bourque and Roly Webster for this amazing opportunity, said Savoie. "The Warrior program is rich in history thanks to previous leaders Mike Martz, Dave Hollinger, Jack Pearse and many others who have contributed over the years.  I look forward to working with Fred Wilder in continuing to build on the legacy of the Warrior golf program as well as meeting and working with the coaches and administrative staff at Waterloo".
