The Warriors Cross Country teams came off another race weekend at the Bayfront Open hosted by McMaster, the last race before OUAs. The Women were off to a quick start with
Hillary Clark (Elliot Lake/) breaking into the top 10 (9th) followed closely by
Paige Breedon (Barrie/) (13th). These two will be key pieces in leading the women's team in 2 weeks, with hopes of qualifying for USports. The team was rounded out by Elliot/
Ella Symon (Vancouver/Vancouver) (50th),
Olivia Vanleeuwen (Guelph/) (51st), and
Nicole Schindler (Waterloo/) (52nd). The team finished 5th, edging out 6th place by 1 point.
On the men's side, the team saw some great progression with
Cameron Dean (Whitby/) (47th) leading the team followed closely by
Adam Huras (New Hamburg/) (51st). The team finished 8th overall with
Jonathan Lysack (Brandon/Brandon) (69th),
Massimo Calcagno (Mississauga/Mississauga) (77th), and
Declan Adams (Oakville/Oakville) (91st) rounding out our top 5.
Next up, the Warriors look to defend home turf at the OUA Championships, hosted on North Campus. The teams will aim to improve on last year's placing of 7th (women) and 9th (men) as they look to book their tickets to U SPORTS.
