Zhang makes his Pan Am Games debut at Santiago 2023

Waterloo, ON - Warrior's Kevin Zhang made his debut at the 2023 Pan American Games held in Santiago, Chile this past weekend. 

As Canada's sole representative in the Men's 200m Butterfly race, the computer science student showed a strong performance in the first heat, finishing second with a time of 2:00.22, only 1.13 seconds behind the lead, earning him a spot in the finals later that day. 

The 17-year-old swimmer from Mississauga, finished the Men's 200m Butterfly final in fifth place with a time of 1:59.52 (+2.86). 

He has added the Pan American Games to his growing list of accomplishments, which include finishing fifth at the 2023 Canadian Swimming Trials earlier this year and competing in his first World Aquatics Cup in October 2022. 

Zhang's performance at the Pan American Games was commendable, and his future in swimming looks bright. He is sure to make a bigger splash in the swimming world in the years to come.
