Nolan Misa (Markham/) shone bright on the diamonds this past weekend, leading the Waterloo Warriors to the baseball championships. The team battled hard in a tournament that saw 14 teams compete, but it was Misa's impressive performance that made all the difference. Right from the start, the captain showed his mettle, hitting a game-winning three-run homer in the opening game against the Golden Hawks. He continued to impress, delivering another walk-off hit in the 11th inning of a thrilling game against the Windsor Lancers.Â
The Markham, Ont. native's all-around game was on full display throughout the Far West Qualifier. He batted an impressive .350, with two doubles, a triple, a homer, 11 RBIs, five runs scored, and four stolen bases. And he didn't just contribute offensively - his solid defensive play was also a key factor in the team's success.Â
Next up for Misa and the Warriors are the Carleton Ravens in the semifinals this upcoming weekend.
