Box Score 2 The Warriors battled two of the top teams in the country this weekend in their road trip to the Nation's Capital coming away with two losses.
In their first contest against the No. 9 Ottawa Gee Gees, Waterloo lost by a score of 90-47. Ottawa shot lights out going 50% from the field compared to 24.6% for the Warriors. Ottawa also out rebounded the black and gold 50-27 in the lopsided win.Â
Top scorer for the Warriors was
Kaitlyn Overeem (Brantford/)Â with nine points while
Breanna Hudspeth (Burlington/),
Vanessa Hughes (Hamilton/) and
Hilary Ferguson (Cambridge/) each had seven.
On Saturday, Waterloo met up with the defending National Champions, Carleton and the No. 8 Ravens took down Waterloo by a score of 56-41. Despite only putting up 41 points, it was a step in the right direction for the Warriors with some solid defensive stands, holding Carleton to just 30.5% from the field. Waterloo's biggest downfall was their turnovers which Carleton converted into 16 points.
Beth Howlett (Burlington) reached double digits with 11 points while Overeem finished with 8.
Waterloo returns to the PAC this weekend to host Ryerson (Friday) and Toronto (Saturday). Both games are set for 6pm.
