Warriors drop road contest to Mustangs

Box Score Women's basketball fell to the Western Mustangs 58-45 on Wednesday night in London as the Warriors dropped to 5-12 on the season.

Waterloo found themselves up 14-7 after one quarter but the Mustangs went on an 18-1 run late in the second quarter to take a 28-23 lead into half.  Both teams went back and forth in the third quarter before Western pulled away in the fourth, outscoring the black and gold 18-10 to earn the 13-point victory.

Waterloo shot 3.16% from the field compared to Western who shot 35.1% but the big difference came from the free throw line where the home side made 10-of-11 attempts.

Emily Wilk (Oakville) led the way for Waterloo with 12 points, going 5-for-15 from the field with two from beyond the arc.  Wilk also had six rebounds and two assists in the loss.  Nicole Schlick (Prince George) put up eight points while Amy Jarvis (Burlington) was back in action for the first time in 2017 with five points in just 12 minutes of action.

The Mustangs were led by Mackenzie Puklicz who had 23 points in her 35 minutes of playing time.  The fourth year guard went 7-for-18 and a perfect 6-for-6 from the line.  Julia Curran and Laura Graham rounded out Western's office with nine points each.

Waterloo will be back in action on Saturday in their final home game of the season as they take on the Windsor Lancers at 1pm as part of Fantastic Alumni Day at the PAC.
