Three ball sinks Warriors in loss to Lakers

Box Score
Nipissing knocked down three straight from downtown late in the fourth quarter and that would prove to be the difference as Waterloo fell to the Lakers 62-55 on Friday night at the PAC.

Waterloo found themselves up 52-50 with just over four minutes remaining but a Jamie Soffer jump shot followed by three straight 3-pointers (two coming from Marla Corney) put the Lakers on a 11-0 run and they did not look back en route to their first victory of the season.  Nipissing improved to 1-6 on the season while the black and gold dropped to 2-4.

Emily Wilk (Oakville) and Kristen Osborne (Markham) has strong games for the black and gold with 20 and 11 points respectively.  Wilk was 9-for-16 with two from beyond the arc while adding six rebounds, five assists, and two steals.  Osborne was 5-for-15 from the field with two boards and two assists.

Off the bench Aphia Ward (Beaumont) had six points with two 3-pointers while Sydney Wilson (Guelph) also put up six.

For the visitors, Marla Corney had 20 points with nine coming from outside while Heidi Smith also had a strong game with 15 points in the win.

The Warriors look to close out 2016 on a winning note when they host Laurentian tomorrow night at 6pm.  The game can be caught live on OUA.tv.
