Box Score It was think pink day at the PAC as the Warriors women's basketball team was thinking 'W' but they would come up just short in a 57-50 loss to the Western Mustangs.
Western outscored the black and gold 21-10 in the final quarter to sink the black and gold. Western improves to 5-1 with the win, good for top spot in the ultra-competitive OUA west while Waterloo drops to 2-3.
The Warriors took a one point lead (47-46) in the final two minutes as
Aphia Ward (Beaumont) knocked down a free throw but that would be their final lead of the game as Victora Heine knocked down a jump shot followed by a Meredith McLeod three pointer that was banked in off the glass allowing Western to cruise to the finish line.
Leading the way for Waterloo was
Emily Wilk (Oakville) with 14 points and
Kristen Osborne (Markham) with 10.
Breanna Hudspeth (Burlington) was also effective with nine points in just 12 minutes of action. On the boards,
Sydney Wilson (Guelph) led the way with eight rebounds.
For Western it was Julia Curran putting up a game high 16 points while Heine had 13.
Waterloo wil be back in action on Friday, December 2 when they take on the Nipissing Lakers before closing out 2016 the following day against Laurentian. Both games are set for 6pm.
