The Waterloo women's basketball team could not recover from an opening half that saw the home Queen's Gaels outscore the Warriors 28-15 as the black and gold would suffer their first loss of the season. Â The No. 7 Queen's Gaels showed why they are one of the top teams in the country with a 93-63 win over Waterloo.
The Warriors gave it their all after a long bus ride the night before from Toronto and a quick turn around with the afternoon game.
Emily Wilk (Oakville) was Waterloo's top point getter with 13 points going 6-for-10 from the field. Â
Aphia Ward (Beaumont) and
Amy Jarvis (Burlington) gave quality minutes off the bench, each putting up 11 points while
Jenel Ulman (Hamilton) had another strong game for with 10 points.
Queen's was led by Marianne Alarie who had a game high 17 points while Veronika Lavergne led the way on the boards with nine rebounds.
The 2-1 Warriors will have another tough test against the Lancers in Windsor (4-0) on Wednesday night before returning home to the PAC on Saturday against Western (4-0). Â
