Warriors close out road trip with 67-54 loss to Badgers

Madison Behr posted a season high 19 points on Wednesday vs. Brock
Box Score Madison Behr (Ancaster) posted a season high 19 points but the Warriors were unable to take advantage of her strong performance in a 67-54 loss to Brock on Wednesday night in St. Catharines.   Behr knocked down four 3-pointers and was strong on the boards with eight rebounds but Waterloo could not close out their six game road trip on a winning note.

The Badgers shot 33% from the field compared to Waterloo's 28% and were more successful at drawing fouls with 19 trips to the free throw line compared to Waterloo's eight.  The Warriors did however outrebound the Badgers 43-42.

"We came out slow and were unable to recover but we showed great signs in the third quarter with much more intensity and effort," mentioned head coach Tyler Slipp.  "Had we played with the desperation we showed in the third quarter for the entire game, we may have come out on top in this one."  Waterloo outscored Brock 30-28 in the final 20 minutes but the gap was too much to overcome.

The loss drops Waterloo's record to 3-13 as they remain in fourth spot in the OUA west while Brock improved to 6-9 which has them in last in the ultra-competitive central division.

Also lending a hand on the offence was Amy Jarvis (Burlington) with 12 points in her 23 minutes of action.  Jarvis was 5-for-11 from the field while adding two free throws in her single trip to the line.  Rounding out the attack was Marti Killeen (Oakville) who had eight points in the contest.

For Brock, it was a complete team effort with four different players in double figures.  Leading the way was Kira Cornelissen with her 16 points while Aryn Finley had 13 off the bench.

The Warriors will take the remainder of the week off before returning to the PAC next Friday for their first home game since January 14.  Waterloo is 2-6 in Waterloo this season and will look for their third home win against the winless Nipissing Lakers (0-13).
