Warriors fall to Lancers setting up key match with Mustangs on Saturday

Box Score The Waterloo women's basketball team could not recover from a 47-23 deficit at halftime as the No. 1 Windsor Lancers won their 18th game of the season topping Waterloo 79-50.  With the win Windsor improved to 18-1 on the season while Waterloo dropped to 5-14.

The good news for the Warriors is Western also lost their Wednesday night contest to Laurier meaning Saturday's game will decide Waterloo's playoff fate.  If the black and gold can top the Mustangs by 10 points or more they will advance to the post-season.

The Warriors had no answer for Windsor's forward Cheyanne Roger who put up 28 points in the contest.  She went 10-for-14 from the field while adding eight more from the charity stripe.

For Waterloo, athlete of the week Madison Behr (Ancaster) led her team with 12 points going 7-for-16 from the field with two 3-pointers.  Rookie Amy Jarvis (Burlington) was also in double figures with 11.

The Lancers made full use of their size advantage outrebounding the Warriors 61-32 and also forced the Warriors to 17 turnovers.

The Warriors will now turn their attention to Saturday's Fantastic Alumni Day when they host the Mustangs at 1pm in the PAC gym.  The contest is sure to be full of drama with a berth to the post-season on the line.  You can catch the game live on oua.tv if you are unable to attend.
