Box Score Waterloo was unable to rebound from another disappointing third quarter as the Guelph Gryphons topped the Warriors 71-63 on Wednesday night.  

The Gryphons got off to a slow start Wednesday night against the Waterloo Warriors, shooting only 24% in the first quarter. However, it was a struggle offensively for both teams early on as the Warriors were held to just 20% shooting in the opening quarter. Guelph's, Katelyn Yallin would hit the only three pointer of the first quarter, as the Gryphons would head to the second up 12-9. Things would open up more in second quarter, which saw Yallin knock two more three pointers, as the Gryphons took a 30-26 lead into the locker room at the half.

Yallin's sharp-shooting was certainly one of the main storylines of the night; the other, the dominance of Kate MacTavish.  The Gryphons 6-foot, fourth year forward racked up a total of 19 rebounds, eight of which came on the offensive end, as the Gryphons outscored the Warriors 16-4 on second chance points.  MacTavish finished the night with a team-high 19 points to go along with those 19 rebounds.  The Gryphons would outscore the Warriors 26-14 in the third quarter, which also featured Yallin's fourth three pointer of the night, as Guelph took a 56-40 lead to the fourth.

The Warriors would put up 23 points in the final quarter, but it would be too little too late as the Gryphons would ride that big third quarter surge and go on to the 71-63 win.

Rookie guard Amy Jarvis (Burlington) led the way once again for Waterloo with 15 points in 23 minutes while forward Mackenize Lougheed collected eight rebounds.  Jacqui Rodrigues (Waterloo) was also strong off the bench with her 11 points which included three straight baskets in the third quarter.

Waterloo will face another tough task when they meet McMaster on Saturday in Hamilton.  Tipoff is set for 6pm.
