Warriors drop battle of Waterloo

Box Score Waterloo dropped to 0-17 on the season as the Laurier Golden Hawks took the battle of Waterloo 83-49.

It wouldn't take long for the Hawks to find their stride as they all but owned the score board jumping to a 12-point lead by the end of the first quarter.

The second quarter was much tighter as Waterloo picked up their defensive intensity but couldn't cut the deficit as Laurier led 36-23 at the half.

In the second half, the Warriors began to slow down letting the Hawks take an even more secure hold on the game, eventually pulling away for an 83-49 victory.

Oakville, Ont., native Doreen Bonsu led the Hawks offence putting up 12 points and, as always, being a force around the basket with nine rebounds.

Also putting on a strong performance was Samantha Jacobs of Enniskillen, Ont., who set a new personal best with 11 points and Guelph, Ont., native Laura Doyle who managed 12 points in the game.

At the other end of the court Jacqui Rodrigues (Waterloo/) managed 11 points for the Warriors but the effort was not enough to close the point gap.

The 34-point margin of victory is the largest by the Golden Hawks this season.

Waterloo will take on Western at the PAC on Wednesday in their final home game of the season.
