Warriors fall short in pair of games in Ottawa

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

The Waterloo women's basketball team came up short in a pair of games with Ottawa and Carleton on the weekend to drop to 2-5 on the season. Waterloo fell 80-48 to the Gee-Gees on Friday before putting together a more complete game on Saturday in a loss to the Ravens by a score of 61-46.

In Friday's loss to Ottawa, the always competitive Gee-Gees led from start to finish cruising past Waterloo. With the win, Ottawa improved to 6-2 on the season, good for first overall in the OUA east. Ottawa drained 10 shots from beyond the arc while Waterloo could only sink three of their attempts.

Marti Killeen (Oakville/) led all Waterloo scorers with 13 points while Madison Behr (Ancaster/Dundas Dynamo) had eight, hitting two of Waterloo's three-pointers. Rookie guard Kristen Osborne (Markham/) also put together a solid game with 10 points in only 17 minutes of action.

In Saturday's contest Waterloo stuck with the fast-paced Ravens finding themselves down only three at half (23-20). Carleton would however pick it up in the third quarter outscoring Waterloo 21-10, marching their way to the 61-46 win and improving their record to 5-3 on the season.

Killeen once again led the black and gold with 16 points tying Carleton's Heather Lindsay for the game high. Mackenzie Lougheed (Owen Sound/Owen Sound) and Ally Vonk (Burlington/) each chipped in with seven.

The Warriors will return to the PAC on Wednesday night for their final home game of 2013 as they welcome the Laurier Golden Hawks for a 6pm tip-off.
