Third quarter lapse gives Queen's win over Warriors

Box Score A third quarter lapse hindered any hope of a Waterloo victory as the women's basketball team dropped their think pink game 60-43 to the Queen's Gaels on Saturday night.  In front of a boisterous home crowd the Warriors could not provide them with a win as the home side was outscored 27-6 in the third quarter and could not recover to pick up the win.

Waterloo led 32-23 at half and looked poised to win their third game of the season but the Gaels had other ideas in the second half.

"We executed our game plan in the opening half but broke down defensively too often in the third quarter and that eventually cost us the game," mentioned head coach Tyler Slipp.

Second year point guard Robyn Pearson was stellar in her 30 minutes of action with 16 points going 6-for-9 from the field while adding four free throw's on four attempts. She was also massive on the boards with 16 total rebouns. Gemma Bullard also contributed offensively with 14 points.

For Waterloo it was Marti Killeen (Oakville/) who had a strong game with 13 points while Kristen Osborne (Markham/) added nine.

The Warriors are now 2-3 on the season and will look to even their record next Friday when they take on the Ottawa Gee-Gees at Friday night.  Waterloo will also play on Saturday in a contest with Carleton.
