Box Score The Waterloo women's basketball team opened up 2013 with a hard fought 73-64 loss to the visiting Lakehead Thunderwolves in the first game of a double header at the PAC on Friday night.
Waterloo held a slim three point lead into the final quarter but fell apart down the stretch as the T-Wolves outscored the home side 23-11 to earn the victory. Waterloo remains winless at 0-8 while Lakehead improved to .500 with a 4-4 record on the season.
Carolyn Fragale (Thunder Bay) was the top point getter for Lakehead with 18 points going 5-for-9 from the field and 7-for-9 from the free throw line. Katie Ulakovic (Thunder Bay) added to the offensive punch with 14 points of her own.
For the Warriors,
Laura Bossers (Stratford/) had herself a game with a career high 18 points going 50% from the field (6-for-12) with three from beyond the arc.
Erika Persson (Lund/) had 13 points while adding a game high 11 rebounds.
Kate Kuntze (Stratford/) and
Mackenzie Lougheed (Owen Sound/Owen Sound) rounded out the Warrior attack with nine and eight points respectively.
The two combatants are back at it tonight for the backend of their double header. Tip off is set for 6pm and the game can be seen live on
