Box Score
The injury-riddled Warriors gave all they had against a solid Western Mustangs squad but came up short falling by a score of 87-59 on Wednesday night in London.
With three starters out of their lineup, Waterloo stuck with the Mustangs throughout the first two quarters but the lack of depth off the bench became a factor as Western overpowered the Warriors in all facets of the game to cruise to victory. The Warriors turned the ball over 37 times and Western took advantage time and time again.
The Warriors would never challenge the lead in the second, allowing Western to move to six wins, four losses for the season. The Mustangs now sit in third place in the OUA West behind the still-undefeated powerhouse Brock and Windsor squads. Waterloo remains winless at 0-10.
Jenny Vaughan (Dundas) finished with 23 points on eight-for-14 shooting from the field and a game-high seven steals for the 'stangs. Second-year
Annabel Hancock (Ingersoll) added 15 points, including three from beyond the arc and veteran
Laura Dally (Bright's Grove) scored 14 points of her own while returning to the starting line-up.
Waterloo's
Erika Persson (Lund/) led the Warriors with 16 points while
Gia Spiropoulos (Belleville/) finished with a game-high eight rebounds.
Kate Kuntze (Stratford/) also chipped in with 11 points in the loss.
Things won't get easier for the Warriors as they travel to Windsor on Sunday to face the No. 3 Lancers.
