Ravens defeat Warriors 76-57 in foul-filled affair

Box Score Another slow start, another loss for the Waterloo women's basketball team who fell to the Carleton Ravens 76-57 on Friday night at the PAC.  Waterloo was doubled up in the opening quarter, 24-12 and could not battle their way back into the game despite strong second and fourth quarters.

Both teams were in the festive spirit dishing out a combined 55 fouls with Carleton knocking down 19 of their points from the line compared to Waterloo who had 26.  The difference in the match was Carleton's 26 made field goals compared to just 13 for the home side.

With the win, the Ravens propel themselves into sole possession of first place in the OUA east with a 5-2 record while the winless Warriors remain in last spot in the west.

Lindsay Shotbolt led both teams in scoring with 19 points for the Ravens going 5-for-8 from the field and adding seven free throws.  Fifth year guard, Alyson Bush also had a strong game for Carleton with 13 points in the win.

Waterloo was led by third year guard Laura Bossers (Stratford/) who was 2-for-8 from the field and 6-for-10 from the charity stripe for 12 total points.  Kate Kuntze (Stratford/) was next in Warrior scoring with 11 points while Jacqui Rodrigues (Waterloo/) and Erika Persson (Lund/) had nine and eight points respectively.

Waterloo wraps up 2012 with a home game tomorrow night against the Ottawa Gee-Gees.  Tipoff is set for 6pm at the PAC.
