Third quarter lapse costly in loss to Badgers

Box Score
The Warriors women's basketball team dropped to 1-12 on the season as the Brock Badgers outscored Waterloo 28-11 in the third quarter to cruise to a 72-55 victory.

With the win the Badgers improved to 10-3 on the season and put a stop to a two game losing streak while Waterloo sits in last in the OUA west at 1-12 with their only win of the season coming against the RMC Paladins in November.

The Warriors came out firing in the first quarter with Theresa Jacobse (Mission/MSS) and Marti Killeen (Oakville/) leading the charge as the black and gold held a slight 16-15 lead.

Brock would begin to find their legs in the second quarter with their leading scorer Nicole Rosenkranz (Niagara Falls, Ont.) taking over the inside game with her size and speed.  Rosenkranz finished the game with 10 points knocking down 4-of-8 from the field and two free throws.

With the Warriors down 32-28 heading into the third quarter the Badgers would take over the game thanks to guard Emily McKay (Toronto) who led the charge with great ball control and vision on the court.  McKay finished the game with 11 points as the Badgers would outscore Waterloo 28-11 in the third to seal their fate with a 72-55 win.

Contributing off the bench for the Badgers was rookie guard Kayla Santilli (Brantford, Ont.) who had 12 points in just 14 minutes played while Jessica Del Signore (Brantford, Ont.) and Tara Giallonardo (Fonthill, Ont.) each had 10 points in the win.

Killeen led the Warriors with a game high 15 points going 5-for-11 from the field and hitting 4-of-6 from the charity stripe.  Laura Burnett (Heidelberg/) chipped in with nine points while Jacobse had eight.

Waterloo look to rebound on Saturday, January 21 with a rematch against the Guelph Gryphons as part of Fantastic Alumni Day at the PAC.  The game can also be seen live on the Streaming Sports Network (SSN Canada).
