Thunderwolves win back to back games over Warriors

Friday, February 4 vs. Lakehead
Lakehead 73, Waterloo 59

The Warriors could not keep pace with a very competitive Lakehead game in the first of two on the weekend with the Thunderwolves topping Waterloo 73-59.

Both teams came out of the game firing on all cylinders and the black and gold showed their potential with strong up court passing and solid finishing along the boards.  Both teams were locked at 19 after one quarter.

 Lakehead however showed their experience outscoring Waterloo 13-6 and 22-16 in the second and third quarter en route to their 11th win of the season.  Waterloo dropped to 0-17.

Leading the way for Lakehead was a pair of forwards Lindsay Druery (Smithville, Ont.) and Sarah Gordon (Halifax, Ont.) who each scored 20 points.  Druery went 9-for-14 from the field while Gordon went 8-for-15 and hit three of five from beyond the arc.

For Waterloo, Saraya Hickey (Tsawwassen, B.C.) led her team with 16 points going 5-for-11 from the field, 2-for-6 from three-point land and four of six from the line. Erin Tilley (Oakville, Ont.) added 14 points in the loss.

The Warriors take on the Thunderwolves once again tomorrow evening at the PAC in Waterloo.

Saturday February 5 vs. Lakehead
Lakehead 76, Waterloo 59

The Lakehead Thunderwolves defeated the Warriors for the second night in a row by a score of 76-59 on Saturday night in Waterloo.  Lindsay Druery of the Smithville, Ont., had a massive game for Lakehead putting up 33 points to secure the win for her team.

Lakehead led 38-22 after the first half and did not look back to win their 12th of the season.  The T-Wolves now sit in fourth place in the competitive OUA west with a 12-6 record.  Waterloo remains in last with an 0-18 record.

Druery was a sizzling 15 of 20 from the field while adding three from the charity stripe.  Tasia McKenna (Timberlea, N.S.) added to the attack with 14 points of her own.

Saraya Hickey (Tsawwassen/Warriors) led the black and gold in scoring once again with 13 points.  Erin Tilley (Oakville/Warriors) added 12 while Tori Lee (Grimsby, Ont.) put up 11 points.

Waterloo makes the long trip to Windsor for their next game on Wednesday, February 9.
