Golden Hawks top Warriors 92-39

The Warriors dropped a Wednesday night home contest by a score of 92-39 at the PAC gym Waterloo.

The Laurier offence was running on all cylinders for the night, shooting 53.6-percent,and scoring a season-high 92 points to the Waterloo's 39. After beating the Warriors 70-19 in the two teams' last meeting, the Warriors were out for revenge, but could never mount an effective attack against the Hawks.

Laurier poured in 32 points in the first quarter, while allowing Waterloo to score 15. In the second quarter the Hawks shut down the Waterloo offence, holding the Warriors to only two baskets, while scoring 25 points themselves. Laurier looked like they were well on their way to victory, holding a 57-19 advantage after one half.

The third quarter saw Laurier add to their lead, outscoring Waterloo 18-6. In the final frame Laurier only outscored Waterloo 17-14, to close out a 92-39 victory.

In addition to their extremely accurate shooting, Laurier scored 44 points off of Waterloo's turnovers, and out-rebounded the Warriors 44-27.

Mallory Kohlmeier (Sarnia, Ont.) scored a career-high 20 points, while Renata Adamczyk (Greensville, Ont.) had 14 points and six assists. Megan Grant (Thunder Bay, Ont.) posted 11 points and nine rebounds, while Felicia Mazerolle (Elliot Lake, Ont.) and Christa Mancino (Port Colborne, Ont.) both scored nine.

Saraya Hickey (Tsawwassen/Warriors) led Waterloo with 13 points and found rebounds. Theresa Jacobse (Mission/MSS) (Mission, B.C.) and Tori Lee (Grimsby/Warriors) (Grimsby, Ont.) both added six points.

Waterloo wraps up their season on Saturday against McMaster in Hamilton.
