Warriors lose to no. 5 Mustangs on road

The Warriors were handed their 20th loss of the season as the Western Mustangs easily defeated Waterloo 83-37 on Saturday afternoon at Alumni Hall in London.

The Mustangs came out with a strong offense, led by
Katelyn Leddy's 10 points on 10 attempts. In the first quarter the Mustangs were 100% at the free-throw line as Leddy and Lacey Knox each drained two. Western's defense also dominated in the first with 12 rebounds, Leddy contributed four. Matteke Hutzler had two steals to aid the Mustang's defence. Mustangs led 26-8 at the end of the first.

Western held Waterloo to an additional nine points, while adding another 30 to extend their lead to 56-17 at half. The majority of the Mustang's points were well-executed lay-ups. Jenny Vaughan was top scorer of the quarter contributing eight points, while Leddy continued to lead the Mustangs with 13 points. Western's had seven steals in the second, while Waterloo had two.

Warrior defence was able to hold the Mustangs to nine points in the third, while Waterloo's offense out-scored the Mustang 13-9. Despite the Warrior's offensive surge led by Erin Tilley (Oakville, Ont.), the Mustang's still held onto a 65-30 lead.
