Mighty Lancers win 10th straight with victory over Warriors

The Warriors fell to the no. 2 Windsor Lancers on Wednesday night by a score of 89-40 at the St. Denis Centre.

The win marks the mighty Lancers tenth straight victory, as they sit in first place in the OUA West division with a record of 17-2 in conference play.

Windsor controlled the game from the opening tip, and quickly built a 22-9 lead after the first quarter. Jessica Clemencon had a tremendous quarter scoring 11 of her 24 total points in the opening ten minutes.

The Lancers continued to dominate the ball taking a twenty point lead at the half, 37-17, and out-rebounding the visitors 30-14 in the opening half.

Everyone on coach Chantal Vallee's squad saw time on the court, and first year Lancer Morgan Jean had another strong game for the Blue & Gold registering 10 points and 3 rebounds in 20 minutes of play.

Bojana Kovacevic and Jocelyn LaRouque also chipped in 10 points a piece, while Iva Peklova had a strong night on the boards with ten rebounds.

Tori Lee (Grimsby, Ont.) and Saraya Hickey (Tsawwassen, B.C.) each put up seven points while Theresa Jacobse (Mission, B.C.) had six.  Kate Kuntze (Stratford, Ont.) picked up six boards in the loss.

In the end, the Lancers out-rebounded the Warriors 59-32, and shot a strong 46.7% from the field, compared to Waterloo's 24.6%.

The Warriors travel to Western for an afternoon match up on Saturday, February 12.
