Warriors defeated by Badgers 75-48

The Waterloo Warriors opened 2011 losing their ninth straight game by a score of 75-48 to the Brock Badgers on Wednesday night at the PAC gym in Waterloo.  With the win, the Badgers extended their win streak to seven games and sit tied for second in the OUA west with a 7-2 record.  The Warriors fell to 0-9.

Brock led 28-6 after 10 minutes and forced the last place Warriors to 40 turnovers on pace to the 27-point victory.

Senior Whitney Gorges (Welland, Ont.) led the Badgers offense registering 13 points. Sophomore Hailey Neal (Mississauga, Ont.) chipped in with season high 12 points. Senior Hillary Woodside (Fall River, NS), junior Emily McKay (Toronto, Ont.), and freshman Andrea Polischuk (Brantford, Ont.) rounded out the Badgers offense chipping in with nine, eight and eight points respectively. Polischuk also added a career high seven rebounds.

Saraya Hickey (Tsawwassen, BC) led all Waterloo players with eight points while picking up three rebounds.  Tori Lee (Grimsby, Ont.) picked up seven points and added six rebounds while Sarah Leitch (Barrie, Ont.) and Mackenzie Lougheed (Owen Sound, Ont.) each had six points.

Brock shot 41.0% from the field going 32-for-78. Despite going 0-for-12 from beyond the arc, Waterloo shot 39.0% going 23-for-59. 

The Badgers next action is this Saturday at 6pm on the road when they travel West to take on the No. 1

The Warriors next action is Saturday, January 8 as they make the short trip over to Wilfrid Laurier University to face their cross-town rivals.  Tip-off is set for 12-noon.
