Young Warriors lose on road to Guelph Gryphons

The Waterloo Warriors lost 73-52 to the Guelph Gryphons on Wednesday night at the W.F. Mitchell Centre in Guelph.

With the win the Guelph moves to 7-4 and a tie for fourth in the OUA west while the young Warriors drop to 0-11 on the season.

The Gryphon's were led by hometown girl Jasmine Douglas with 17 points and 17 rebounds, while Ali Dzikowski (Brantford, Ont.) also had 17 points to go along with her 10 boards and five assists. Not to be outdone, Alex Yallin (Port Colborne, Ont.) also had 17 points while also dishing out five assists.

The Warriors were led by Erin Tilley (Oakville/Warriors)'s (Oakville, Ont) 14 points, while Saraya Hickey (Tsawwassen, B.C.)and Tori Lee (Grimsby, Ont.) both chipped in with eight. As a team, the Warriors committed 21 turnovers, showing the growing pains that comes with a young, inexperienced team.

The Gryphon's showed their experience all game as they held the Warriors to 31% shooting for the game. Guelph meanwhile displayed their three-point shooting by nailing 8-21 from range.

It doesn't get any easier for the Warriors who host the no. 2 ranked country in the team as the Windsor Lancers pay a visit to the struggling Waterloo team.  Tip-off is set for 2:00 pm at the PAC.
