Warriors Sweep Competition on Day 1 of OUA Curling Championship

Recap and Schedule Ahead

Waterloo, Ont - On the opening day of the OUA Curling Championships in Guelph, the Warriors curling squad got a robust start.

On the men's side, the Warriors split the first two games of the round-robin against the TMU Bold and local rivals, the Golden Hawks. 

During the initial match against the Bold, the Warriors managed to stage a comeback in the last three ends of the game and eventually outscored the Bold by 3-4.

In the Battle of Waterloo match, the Warriors dominated the first three ends, outscoring the Golden Hawks 3-1. However, they could not maintain their lead in the final ends of the game, allowing Laurier to come back and win 6-4.

The Warriors women's team were off to a strong start on day one of the championships, winning both games and putting them at the top of their pool.

On Friday morning, the Warriors dominated their game against Brock Badgers. They started off strong by scoring three points in the first end, and continued their winning streak until the end of the game, finishing with a score of 7-2 after just 6 ends.

On that particular evening, the Warriors faced off against Laurentian in a highly anticipated game. The Warriors began the game with a consistent performance, scoring six points in the first four ends of the game. In the end, the black and gold emerged victorious with a final score of 9-5.

As the OUA Championships move into its second day, the men's team is scheduled to face off against the Carleton Ravens and the Algoma Thunderbirds. Meanwhile, the women's team aims to maintain their lead in the pool by competing against the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks and the host Guelph Gryphons.
