Babcock and Vincent Shine at the Don Wright Team Challenge

The University of Waterloo Warriors Varsity Track and Field team left a mark at the Don Wright Team Challenge meet hosted by Western University over the weekend. Setting the track ablaze with remarkable seasons bests, lifetime bests, and top 10 all time Warrior performances.

Men's 4x200m relay team ran a season's best, securing a commendable second-place finish. Ben Lemon (Waterloo/) and team captain Lucas Barenoski pushed their limits, clocking lifetime personal bests that played a pivotal role in clinching the silver.

The momentum continued with the Women's 4x200m relay team, who showcased impeccable teamwork and lightning speed, ultimately claiming a well-deserved second place.

Individual performances added to the excitement. Brielle Fernandez (Hong Kong/Hong Kong) powered through to the finals, securing an impressive 4th place finish in the 60m. Dominik Manouchehr (Ajax/), a first-year athlete, ran well in the men's 60m by reaching the final and clinching 8th place. Furthermore, team captain Celia Markovinovic (Puslinch/) ran well in the 60m Hurdles, finishing in 3rd place.

Owen Babcock (Kitchener/) stole the spotlight in the 600m race, clocking in at an impressive 1:20.43 to seize the victory and move to 4th place in the overall USPORTS rankings. Nicole Schindler (Waterloo/) demonstrated her commitment to improvement, setting a new personal best of 1:39.83 in the 600m and securing a 5th-place finish.

Jocelyn Ertl (Murillo/), a seasoned 5th-year Multi-athlete, unleashed a season-best shot put throw of 10.67m, earning her a well-deserved 4th place. Second year Jared Milligan (Frankford/) jumped 1.88m in high jump to secure 4th place while fellow second year athlete Steven Mu (Waterloo/) won the men's triple jump.

The Men's 4x400m relay team kept the triumphs rolling, claiming victory and underscoring the team's overall dominance in relay events. Lucas Baranoski (Waterloo/) and Ben Lemon (Waterloo/) had big season's bests in their relay legs leading the team. The Women's 4x800m relay team launched their season with a bang, featuring standout performances from Nicole Schindler (Waterloo/) and Rachel Love (Georgetown/), who clocked impressive lifetime personal best splits.

Rookie sensation Chloe Vincent (Waterloo/) etched her name in history with a remarkable mile

performance, crossing the finish line at 5:03:81. Her time not only secured 8th place but also earned her the 3rd spot on the University of Waterloo's all-time top 10 list for the mile. Adding to the mid-distance brilliance, Paige Breedon (Barrie/) clocked a lifetime personal best of 5:05:53, finishing 12th in the mile and improving her all-time best in Warriors history as the 4th fastest female in the event.

In summary, the Warriors showcased great results throughout the weekend, leaving a trail of victories and personal bests. As they gear up for a well-deserved week off competition, anticipation is high for the York Open at the beginning of February.
