After a tough shooting night at the PAC on Friday night, the Warriors bounced back in a big way on Saturday afternoon in Guelph defeating the Gryphons by a score of 82-73 in the backend of their home and home.
Waterloo took much better care of the ball and had cleaner looks in the game in what was their 10th win of the season. They also knocked down a season high 12 from beyond the arc which would prove to be the difference in the victory. The Warriors are now 10-4 on the season, matching Guelph's record as they both sit in the top spot in the OUA West.
Vanessa Hughes (Hamilton, ON/) had a tremendous game with a game high 22 points, going 8-for-19 from the field including a season high six made 3-pointers.
Beth Howlett (Burlington, ON/) was next best with 15 points thanks to four 3-pointers and three made free throws.
Summer Pahl (Kitchener, ON/)Â was also stellar with a double-double posting 13 points and 13 boards while
Kaitlyn Overeem (Brantford, ON/) rounded out Waterloo's attack with 11 points and eight assists.
Maddy Adams (Drumbo, ON/) and
Jaime Newell (Brussels, ON/) were also important pieces in the win, combining for 14 rebounds in the win.
Waterloo will be back at home for a pair of games against Algoma next weekend. Make sure you come out to the PAC on Friday night (6pm) as Athletics hosts a Raising of the Eagle Feather Ceremony between the women's and men's game and on Saturday (4pm) for Fantastic Alumni Day.Â
