It may still be considered 'early' in the season but for women's soccer it was crunch time in their northern road trip and the black and gold delivered with two big wins over the Algoma Thunderbirds.
With the six crucial points, Waterloo catapulted into third spot in the OUA west with eight points (2-1-2).Â
On Saturday,
Alaiyah Wilson (Bolton/) and
Ciara Dunne (Waterloo/) both scored first half goals and that was all the Warriors needed as Mogan Berg shut the door with four stops to earn her second clean sheet of the season. The Warriors dominated play from start to finish outshooting the T-Birds 19-4 in the 2-0 victory.
On Sunday, Waterloo again dominated play with 23 shots towards T-Birds' keeper, Alexis Trigani-Kirkwood. Both Dunne (31') and Wilson (80') found the back of the net again while
Ainsleigh Sedore (Barrie/) netted two (19', 86') as the Warriors cruised to a 4-1 win.
The Warriors are back in action next weekend with another set of matches, first at Windsor on Saturday, followed by a home match with Western on Sunday at Warrior Field.Â
