Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Warriors split weekend series with Lancers and 'Stangs

The Warriors traveled down the 401 to Windsor on Saturday to battle the Lancers and came away with another three points, their third straight win to improve their record to 3-2-1.

Just 1:52 into the contest, Ciara Dunne (Waterloo/) scored her third of the season and 12th of her career to put Waterloo up 1-0. It was Dunne's third goal in as many games. The game would go into the half with the black and gold up 1-0.

Early in the second half, the Warriors again struck as Isabel Lynch (Oakville/) netted her first career goal in the 49th minute. Morgan Berg (Kitchener/) did the rest in net stopping all five shots faced for her third shutout of the season as the Warriors took the match 2-0.

On Sunday, the Warriors were back in action again, this time on Warrior Field as they welcome Western on a hot yet windy day. With the wind at their back in the opening half, Waterloo created some good opportunities and kept the No. 9 Mustangs in check but neither team could find the back of the net.

Western used the wind to their advantage in the second half, holding most of the possession and got rewarded on a 50/50 ball in the 74th minute as Giualia Geraci was awarded a penalty kick. She made no mistake to put the visitors up 1-0. Twelve minutes later Western added another one off a nice cross that was headed in by Medina Birani. The clock would rundown on Waterloo to make it a final 2-0 for the Mustangs.

With their 3-2-2 record, Waterloo sits in third in the ultra-competitve OUA west with 11 points. They battle Windsor on Friday night at home and then head across the street for their first Battle of Waterloo with Laurier on Sunday.
