The women's soccer team started their 2018 season with two tough losses to Brock and McMaster.

In their first match against Brock down in St. Catharines, the Warriors started out cautiously before finding their groove by the 20th minute. The Badgers would however find the games first goal after a turn over that resulted in a quick counter attack for the home side. 

The black and gold rallied and came out stronger in the second half, finding the equalizer after some hard work from veteran wingers Andrea Plagos (Kincardine/) and Ainsleigh Sedore (Barrie/). Co-captain, Ciara Dunne (Waterloo/)r then stepped up and tucked the penalty away to make it a 1-1 game.

Brock would however find the go-ahead tally in injury time giving them the 2-1 victory.

In Sunday's home opening game against McMater, Waterloo came out strong in the opening 15 minutes but couldn't get one past the Marauders keeper who stood tall early on. McMaster then found the opening goal in the 18th minute off the foot of Stephanie Roberts who made a nice individual run down the far wing.

McMaster padded their lead early in the second half with Emma Czernuska firing past Warriors keeper Madison McDonald (Kitchener/) in the 48th minute. Waterloo would push back late in the half but could not find the back of the net, dropping the match 2-0.

Waterloo will be back in action on Labour Day weekend with a pair of home games against Algoma. Saturday at 1pm and Sunday at noon both on Warrior Field.
