The Warriors field hockey team put together a strong OUA Championship on home field this past weekend. The Warriors got past Queen's in the OUA quarter-finals and then fell to York (semi's) and Toronto (bronze) to finish fourth overall.
In their quarter-final battle with Queen's,
Carmen Andiel (Victoria/) scored the games lone goal in 34th minute off a short corner. Waterloo controlled most of the play in this match while
Marley Dowling (Waterloo/) made timely saves in net for the 1-0 shutout victory.
On Saturday, Waterloo met up with the defending OUA Champions, York and the Lions showed why they are one of the top teams in the country, downing Waterloo 8-2.
Jennifer Mead (Mitchell/) and Andiel found the net for the black and gold while Chloe Walton scored three times for the Lions.
On Sunday, Waterloo battled Toronto for the bronze medal and it was the Varsity Blues who came away with the victory scoring twice in 20 minutes in the opening half and then another one early in the second half.Â
In the final match of the day York blanked Guelph 1-0 to earn their second straight banner.
