The Warriors field hockey team earned 3 out of a possible 4 points this week with a home and home against the Western Mustangs. Their record is now 2-2-2 on the season as they head into the second half of their schedule.
On Wednesday evening in London, the Warriors needed just one goal for the victory as
Mackenzie Blake (Oakville/) scored in the 48th minute off of a penalty corner to secure a big win for the black and gold. Veteran goalie,
Marley Dowling (Waterloo/) was busy between the pipes earning the shutout.
On Sunday morning on Warrior Field, Waterloo took on Western on a sunny October morning and the two combatants played to a 1-1 draw. Both goals came in the third quarter as
Sarah Schnarr (Kitchener/) netted her first career goal in the 36th minute while the Mustangs responded just one minute later on a penalty stroke. Neither team could find the net in the fourth as the game ended in a tie.
The .500 Warriors will now turn their attention to the Guelph Gryphons with a road game there on Thursday before some Friday Night Lights action on Friday at 7pm at Warrior Field.
