The Waterloo Warriors curling teams put together a solid weekend of action at the 2017 OUA Championships hosted by UOIT in Oshawa. The men's team went 4-3 in pool play while the women also went 4-3.
The men picked up two big wins in their final games including a 6-5 win over Laurentian and 9-4 victory over the hosts, UOIT Ridgebacks. With those two final wins, Waterloo snuck into the OUA quarter-finals but would drop a hard fought game, 6-5 to the Queen's Gaels.
Queen's jumped out to a 3-0 lead after the first end but Waterloo clawed their way back with four points in the next four ends to take a 4-3 lead into the 6th. Queen's would tie it up at 4's before Waterloo took a 5-4 lead into the 9th end where the Gaels scored two with the hammer to take the match 6-5.
For the women, their 4-3 record was unfortunately not enough to get them into the medal round but the Warriors did earn some impressive results in pool play including an 8-4 win over Windsor and 8-2 win over Queen's.
