Warriors earn first point of season in draw with Brock

After two tough losses to kick off the 2015 seson the Warriors showed some fight in a contest with Brock on Saturday earning a 22-all draw with the Badgers.  It looked as if the Warriors were going to pick up their first win of the young season but Brock had other ideas scroing a late try to even the game and the final whistle would go on the black and gold.

Brock came blazing out of the gates early, with Chelsea Braithwaite (Brampton, Ont.) scoring off a penalty in Waterloo's end to make the score 5-0.  Amarjie Barnes (Brampton, Ont.) would score shortly after to make it 10-0 on a nice rush down the field. Waterloo would go on to convert a penalty kick and a try for 10 points to tie it.  Madeline Hume (Toronto) punched home the try while Lauren Mueller (Mississauga) converted the penalty kick.

Nearing the end of the first, Brock would answer with an aggressive attack for Kayla Hutchinson (Erin, Ont.) to score.

In the second half, Waterloo opened the scoring after a turnover on back pass fumble. Adrienne Sy got the five points for the Warriors while Mueller split the upright on the kick.

The pressure continued from the Warriors as Eleta Mitton (Simcoe) ran in a end to end try making it 22-17, but the Badgers would not back down with third year winger Kelsey Smith (Kingston, Ont.) scoring in the final minute to tie it. They were unable to convert the try and the game would end in a 22-all tie.

The Warriors will be back in action on Friday night in Guelph to face the Gryphons.
