The Waterloo field hockey team capped off a memorable season with an OUA bronze medal victory, shutting out the York Lions 1-0 yesterday in Toronto. Â
It was a back and forth contest between two teams that have very little separating them and would come down to who made the last mistake. Â Fortunately for Waterloo, they played a defensively sound match and came away with the 1-0 win.
Tara Burke (Baden) waited for the perfect time to get her first career CIS and Waterloo goal scoring the game's only goal in the 24th minute. Â That is all the offence the black and gold needed for the win as
Hilary Neeb (Wellesley) and her defence shut the door the rest of the way. Â OUA goalie of the year, Neeb was spectacular making save after save to preserve the win.
The OUA bronze medal is Waterloo's fourth OUA medal in the past six years (1 silver, 3 bronze) as the program continues to get results.
