Warriors score early and often to cruise past Hawks

Emilia Pruszkowski runs near side past several Hawks
The Waterloo women's rugby team scored early and often to cruise past the Laurier Golden Hawks 50-5 in the battle of Waterloo on Saturday afternoon.  Renee Woodhouse (Stratford/) and Alexis Blair (Mississauga/) each had two tries in the win while six other Warriors added single's to improve their record to 1-1 on the season.

Waterloo wasted little time opening the flood gates as Emilia Pruszkowski (Deep River/) found her first try of the season to put the home side up 5-0.  Waterloo would find their second try just two minutes later on some nice ball distribution capped off by Blair's first try of two.

Woodhouse would continue the early onslaught with her first try of the season before rookie fullback Alison Carlyle (Barrie/) would punch home her first try as a Warrior to put the black and gold up 20-0.

Laurier would push back the remainder of the opening half but Waterloo's defence would put up a wall not allowing the Hawks to penetrate the end zone.

Waterloo would turn up the offence one more notch in the second half and add six more tries to Laurier's one to earn the comfortable 50-5 victory.  Adding to the scoring in the second half was Kourtney King, Bryanna Bryans (Chatsworth/), Woodhouse, Blair, Kathleen Jones (Sunderland/) and Samantha Almeida-Schroen (Ajax/) for the Warriors while Chloe Graves notched the lone try for Laurier.

The Warriors have now completed their home section of the schedule and will turn their attention to road matches with the first coming next Saturday in St. Catharines against the always stingy Brock Badgers.
