The Waterloo women's rugby team opened up their 2012 season with a convincing 38-17 win over the home side Trent Excalibur on Wednesday afternoon in Peterborough.
Second year forward
Rachel Brown (Cambridge/) tallied a team high 11 points in the win which included one try and three converts while third year lock
Megan Colwell (Spencerville/) scored two tries for 10 points to lead the Warriors to victory.
Also contributing for the black and gold was third year back
Nastasha Vrablic (Cambridge/), rookie winger
Samantha Taraborrelli (Sarnia/) and flanker Adrienne Sy each with one try. Rookie lock
Naomi Brown (Cambridge/) also added a convert in the winning effort.
Brittany Douglas provided two tries for the home side while Jillian Roy added a single and Celeigh Harris chipped in a convert to round out the Excalibur attack.
The 1-0 Warriors now return home to face the Brock Badgers on Sunday afternoon at 1pm at the CIF fields. The meeting will be the first since the Badgers ousted Waterloo in a heartbreaking loss of the OUA quarter-finals last season.
