Second half comeback gives Blues victory over Warriors

The Waterloo women's rugby team dropped their second straight game giving up five second half tries to fall to the Toronto Varsity Blues 34-29 on Saturday afternoon in Waterloo.

Third year Nastasha Vrablic (Cambridge/) led the Warriors with two tries while Rachel Brown (Cambridge/) and Kaley Maksymyk (Cambridge/) added single tries but it was not enough as the Warriors second half collapse would allow the Blues to claw their way back to victory.  Megan Colwell (Spencerville/) added nine points on the afternoon with two converts and a penalty goal.

Lee-Ann Corrigan (Phelpston, Ont.) scored two tries in leading Toronto to victory. Toronto natives Mercedes Mueller (Toronto) and Hannah Ehrehardt (Toronto) as well as veteran Stephanie Fox (Oakville, Ont.) and fifth-year transfer Jenna Livingston of Hillsburgh, added single tries.

With the loss Waterloo fell to 2-2 on the season and sit in second place in the Shiels divison while Toronto improved to 2-2.

Next up for the black and gold is their final regular season game as they host the Western Mustangs (1-3) on Friday October 7 at the CIF Fields.
