Shayne White

Shayne White enters his eighth year as head coach of the men's volleyball program and was an assistant for five years prior under previous head coach Chris Lawson. In April of 2017, White was hired as the full-time coach of men's volleyball. In White’s first five seasons as bench boss, he led the Warriors to two OUA medals (1 silver, 1 bronze) and two National Championship berths. Working in partnership with Chris the men’s volleyball program won 3 OUA medals, 3 trips to nationals and 8 consecutive OUA Final Fours. 
This past summer Shayne was the lead coach and mentor coach for the High Performance Centre in North Bay and for Team Ontario Red boys program. 

During the summers of 2018 and 2019, White gained valuable international experience as an assistant coach with Team Canada’s Junior National u21 program.  During this cycle, Team Canada won a bronze in NORCECA (Cuba), a silver in PanAm cup (Peru) and 12th finish at World Championships in Bahrain. 

Before coming to University of Waterloo, White was head coach of Wilfrid Laurier University Men’s Volleyball program from 2003 – 2010, and assistant coaching the WLU Women’s Team 2001-2003.  On top of White's U SPORTS coaching experience, he has also worked at the Ontario Volleyball Association as an indoor development coach and Team Ontario mentor coach.  White is Level 3 (NCCP) certified and has spent time as the Canada Games head coach (silver medal in 2009) and Canada Games assistant coach (bronze medal in 2005).
In past years, Shayne White has taken numerous international coaching development trips to Izmir Turkey with club Arkas, head coached by Glenn Hoag (previous Team Canada Olympic coach), and with club Italia A and B programs at their Olympic training center in Rome, Italy.
