Maria Leahy

Maria Leahy enters her 10th season as the head coach of the field hockey program and has guided the Warriors to two OUA bronze medals (2015, 2019).

Leahy is no stranger to the Warriors field hockey program as she played from 2008-2013 in a midfield/defender role and was a prominent player during this time. Leahy currently coaches with the KW Olympic Field Hockey Club (since 2009) and has been the head coach of the University of Waterloo Athena's club team since 2013.

Leahy has a large sporting legacy to uphold as her mother and great-uncle are highly regarded in the Waterloo and international sporting world. Leahy is the daughter of Waterloo Athletic Hall of Famer Lisa Bauer Leahy, who is the Warriors all-time leading scorer in field hockey and was a member of Canada's Olympic team at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics. Leahy's great-uncle is Hockey Hall of Famer Father David Bauer, who founded and coached Canada's first ever Canadian National Hockey team which won bronze in the 1968 France Olympics.
