A Hamilton, Ont. native, Drew Smillie has a diverse coaching background. Drew has served as the Transway JUEL head coach for a number of year. He has also served an assistant coach for Team Ontario U14 & U17 Girls programs in 2019 and 2020 respectively. He is also a long-standing Centre for Performance Hamilton Pod Region coach. 

Smilie currently coaches as an assistant at Lincoln Prep Academy in the Ontario Scholastic Basetball Association (OSBA). During his 2 years with Lincoln Prep, he's helped the Huskies to win an OSBA championships in 2018.

Coach Smillie graduated with degrees in Political Science and Geography from McMaster University and holds a Bachelor of Education from Brock University. Currently, he works as a middle school teacher in the Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board.
