Facilities - Event Staff

Job Title: Facilities - Event Staff
Reports to: Coordinator, Events
Salary Grade: Casual/Fixed Term Contract
Renumeration: $16.00/hr - $19.90/hr
 
Primary Purpose

The Event Staff is accountable to the Coordinator, Events for the execution and maintenance of athletic event operations within the University of Waterloo (UW) athletic and recreation facilities. Working alongside Physical Activity Complex (PAC) and Columbia Icefield (CIF) staff, the position will support building operations as a direct contact for external groups and campus events, league and conference athletic competitions that involve non-UW stakeholders including visiting teams, officials and/or guests.
 
Key Accountabilities

Event Staging
  • Assists with the execution of conference and league requirements for athletic event hosting within UW athletic facilities for all competition such as, exhibition, regular season, and playoffs
    • Athletic events include but are not limited to the following OUA G1 and G2 sports: Soccer, Football, Hockey, Rugby, Field Hockey, Volleyball, Basketball and Cross Country
  • Assists with the execution of external rentals with UW Athletic facilities and ensures a positive experience for the user group
  • Safe set up, teardown and operation of equipment for athletes and spectators
  • Maintain a safe and secure event space for all parties
Customer Service
  • Addresses customer inquiries and concerns with diligence
  • Responsibly handles cash transactions and interactions with spectators
  • Contributes to a positive overall event experience for all parties entering UW event spaces
  • Enforces policies and procedures
Required Qualifications

Education
  • Enrolled in a University of Waterloo Program (Undergraduate, Masters, PhD)
Experience
  • Previous customer service skills preferred
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
  • Valid Standard First Aid & CPR-C AED
  • Demonstrates ability to think critically and problem solve
  • Experience working cooperatively within a team
  • Adaptability in a fast-paced work environment
  • Follows direction and completes tasks punctually
  • Physically able to lift/carry 50lbs and remain standing for prolonged periods
