Job Description

The Esports Communications Student Coordinator maintains and supports all of the esports communications. This includes social media accounts (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Discord and Youtube) and websites.  The main responsibility of the position will be to consistently engage the esports community at the University of Waterloo and the greater community. This role will monitor the progression of our competitive esports teams and create content (images, videos, write ups, etc.) to tell their stories.

Summary of Duties and Responsibilities of Position

  • Responsible for maintaining all of the esports based social channels
  • Required to complete one post following all OPSE matches, and all other leagues our teams play in, detailing the scores for each match
  • Will analyze game footage in order to get highlight clips
  • Post on the social media channels with direct links to broadcasts whenever one of the Warriors esports teams is being broadcasted
  • Perform a weekly analytics report detailing the engagements and impressions on each post
  • Responsible for staying up to date with the players writing in-depth stories on the star players to be posted on the Warriors website

Qualifications:

  • 4 months experience with marketing/communications related positions
  • 4 months experience with photoshop software such as Adobe photoshop, Canva, Pixlr, Spark etc.
  • 4 months experience with video editing software such as Adobe Premiere, Vegas, Final Cut
  • A passion for gaming
  • General familiarity for current esports (especially Overwatch, League of Legends, and Rocket League)
  • Creative thinker
  • Effective communicator
  • In good academic standing

Times and Hours of Work

  • Employment shall commence on 10/26/2020 up to and including 12/20/2020. This is subject to change with advanced notice
  • For the period of your employment as specified above the hours are flexible but must abide by the deadlines provided
  • This position will be paid for 3 hours of work per week, it is the responsibility of those employed to ensure their work does not exceed or fall short of 3 hours per week
