Conditioning FAQs

Q: Who is eligible to use the Fitness and Strength Centres facilities?
A: Current registered undergraduate or graduate students, as well as Affiliate Members who have purchased a current term Athletics & Recreational Services Membership: alumni, staff, faculty or spouses.

Students that are on a local co-op term, or not taking any courses, may still use the facilities by purchasing a Student Athletics & Recreation Services Membership for $60 (per term).

Q: What is the dress code and rules for use of the centres?
A: Please see the "Rules and Etiquette" link listed on the left sidebar for full details. Anyone who does not follow these rules will be politely asked to change their behaviour. If the problem persists, they will be asked to leave the facility for that day.

Q: Are the Fitness and Strength Centres open during statutory holidays?
A: No, both the PAC & CIF facilities are closed on statutory holidays, and the PAC facility is actually closed down for the entire weekend during “long weekends” (Saturday, Sunday & Monday). In addition, the facilities are closed over the Christmas holidays and the last two weeks in August for maintenance and repairs. In the Spring/Summer term both facilities will be closed for the entire weekend during "long weekend" holidays.

Q: What equipment can I sign out for use at the centres and how do I do that?
A: Refer to the “Facilities” link listed on the left sidebar for a complete list of equipment available. Equipment listed is available for use within the weight room and is not permitted to be removed from the facility.

Q: Are the centres supervised?
A: The PAC Strength Centre and the CIF Fitness Centre is supervised by Certified Personal Trainers at all times. Please feel free to ask a Personal Trainer (look for the black shirts with "Personal Trainer" on the back) about any fitness related questions you may have, for a spot, or how to use any of the equipment.

Q: How can I hire a Personal Trainer? How much does it cost? Where do I register?
A: Please check out all of our Personal Training on the drop down menu of the Conditioning tab. Sessions must be completed by the end of the current terms academic classes. No sessions will be carried over to future terms. Also check out our Conditioning Courses to experience group weight training.

Q: What is our refund policy on training sessions?
A: The Warrior Rec refund policy can be found on the Conditioning main page.

Q: I want to register for the Personal Training Specialist course. How do I do that?
A: Please refer to the Conditioning main page.

Q: I want to work as a Personal Trainer for Campus Rec. What does that entail and how do I apply?
A: Please refer to the Work with the Warriors link listed on the right sidebar. Remember to pay careful attention to the application deadlines, as well as the necessary proof of qualifications to include with your application and resume. We hire every term!

Q: Why aren’t free weights allowed on the cardio equipment?
A: Free weights could damage the cardio equipment if accidentally dropped. Please only use free weights in the designated areas.

Q: Why should I spray the towel with the solution and not the equipment directly?
A: Spraying the equipment directly wears the fabric out faster. Spraying the towel also reduces the amount of spray in the air.
