Waterloo Warriors women's team put up a great fight against the no. 2 Varsity Blues in an exciting match that saw both teams display exceptional skills. Although the Blues emerged victorious, winning their third title in four years, the Warriors showed their strength and determination throughout the game. The doubles play was intense, with the Blues winning two of the three games, but the Warriors fought back in singles, winning in the one- and two-slot with impressive performances from
Aldiana Lazoja (6-3, 6-2) and
Adema Tursunkhanova (Almaty/) (6-2, 6-2). The Blues ultimately secured the win by taking three straight games, but the Warriors never gave up and played with great spirit until the end. It was a memorable weekend for the teams, with
Adema Tursunkhanova (Almaty/) and
Jana Llorin were named OUA all-stars.
In the final match of the day for the men, the no. 4 Waterloo Warriors secured the bronze medal after a convincing win over the no. 3 York Lions. The Warriors displayed their impressive skills in doubles action, winning all three doubles matches with ease.
Pavle Milic was exceptional in the one-slot, winning a three-set thriller against Max Tokarev to secure a crucial victory for the Warriors. Although the Mustangs won two singles matches, the Warriors fought hard and
Matthew Li, the rookie sensation, won a crucial three-set match against Emilio Velazquez to lead the team to a well-deserved third-place finish. Li's outstanding performance also earned him rookie of the year.
