Women's soccer not only picked up their first win of the season, they did so in style, upsetting the No. 9 team in the country, the Western Mustangs by a final score of 3-2. The win puts the Warriors at four points on the season.
After Western went up 1-nil in the 22nd minute, Waterloo bounced back to even the score in the 39th minute off the foot of
Jenny Ha (Kitchener/), her second of the season.
Tied at one's into the second half, Western took a 2-1 lead in the 61st minute as Reese Fowler got her fifth of the season past Warriors keeper
Hannah Petrosino (Conestogo/).
Waterloo however did not let up as
Alexa Cimermancic (Kitchener/) netted her second of the season just 30 seconds after the Fowler goal to even the game at two's.
The Warriors then found the go ahead marker as
Samantha Desouza (Brampton/) fired home her second of the season to give Waterloo the 3-2 win in the 88th minute. Petrosino and the Warriors closed the door the rest of the way to secure the big upset victory.
Waterloo will now look for another big three points next weekend in Windsor as they battle the Lancers at 6pm before closing out their season with a pair of home games against Algoma the following weekend.Â
